Worlds are colliding in Birmingham on Saturday night as The Jauntee and The Talismen are teaming up for a big night at Zydeco. It's no secret that we keep a close eye on the jam scene's up-and-comers, and these are two bands we have had our eyes on for several years. Many will remember The Jauntee from their Friday night set at CukoRakko Music & Arts Festival last October. The Colorado-based quartet also made a stop in Birmingham with Twiddle last fall. They have been busy touring across the country in 2019, while performing alongside many of the most notable acts on the festival circuit. This band brings a super unique, eclectic vibe to any show, and we expect Saturday night to be no different.
-
The Talismen are wrapping up a busy summer which has allowed the band to tap into quite a few new markets. With successful outings in Atlanta, Athens, Savannah, and Mobile, it's clear that this young band is making major strides as they expand on their audience outside of Alabama. They are fresh off the release of their debut album, Jar Full of Something, which is quickly approaching 100,000 streams on Spotify. Rumor has it that they've been adding a bunch of new originals into the arsenal this summer.
-
-
We had a chance to catch up with members of both bands to learn a little more about what they've been up to over the summer.. Check out the quotes below and make sure to plan accordingly as you think about your weekend plans.
-
"It's been a busy summer for us thus far. We've had shows coast to coast and filled nearly all our weekends at home with local gigs in Colorado. It's been a lot of fun traveling the country this year and sharing our music with so many people. We're excited to wrap up Summer tour in Birmingham this weekend and look forward to sharing a Jaunt with our Southern family!"

" It’s been a great summer thus far for us. We started this tour on May 31st in Atlanta and wrap it up next Saturday in Mobile. Throughout, we have grown closer as a unit, and we're all super excited about the new music we have released as well at the songs we have in the works. We are very grateful for the opportunities we have had to play in front of new crowds this summer."

The Jauntee Announces Major National Fall Tour October 3, 2017 15:58

Road warriors, The Jauntee, have just announced a national fall tour on the heels of their summer midwest run. The band will depart Colorado after playing a few shows in their new backyard and hit a number of markets on their cross country jaunt. They will return to some of their. favorite spots, including Aisle 5 in Atlanta, The 8x10 in Baltimore, and The Southern in Charlottesville with some new and returning characters including Cycles, The Southern Belles, Roots of a Rebellion, and more. The band has also started to unveil their new JAUNTGRASS project which showcases bluegrass and Americana arrangements of their original compositions. Fans in Denver will have the chance to catch this performance in November!
-
Hailing from Boston and as graduates of Berklee School of Music, The Jauntee have solidified a dedicated following through playing staple venues across the country and several national festivals including Catskill Chill, Disc Jam, Peach Fest and more. The band is perhaps more widely recognized for their relentless and extensive touring schedule which has resulted in sold out shows on the East Coast, across the Midwest, and as far West as Colorado. A focus on live improvisation, setlist variety, and musical exploration means every show is different from the last, truly making The Jauntee a live act to see again and again.
-
Drawing influence from a wide variety of acts, The Jauntee's improvisational landscape spans multiple genres, from rock and jazz all the way to bluegrass, psychedelic, and ambient. Their willingness to explore genres, abandon all song structure, and dive into 'the weird' sets them apart from the average upcoming jam band. They aim to push the boundaries of improvisation, embrace the moment and engage the audience. With a quickly growing loyal fanbase, an ever-expanding song catalog and an inclination for open ended improvisation, The Jauntee promises to deliver a unique experience.

-
Hot off a Midwest and Colorado run, Boston’s own The Jauntee are touring the East Coast again this Summer, and we've got all the details for you. The dynamic, improvisational quartet have been stacking up the miles over the last few tours and this one is no different. The Jauntee will see return dates at venues like American Beauty in NYC, The Camel in Richmond, and Aisle 5 in Atlanta, and a bi-weekly residency in July at The 8x10 in Baltimore. The band’s long awaited return to Florida and a late-night set at this year’s Peach Festival have also been announced. Perhaps most exciting and close to home,  The Jauntee will play a 2-night stand at The Bridge Sound and Stage in Cambridge which will be a live recording session for their follow up album to last year’s Excelsior. The band plans to release more on this intimate experience soon.

The Jauntee & Cycles Will Join Forces For Late Winter Tour December 20, 2016 13:12

The end of Winter 2017 will see two of the most promising young bands in the jam scene team up for what guarantees to be an epic tour spanning from Virginia to Colorado and all stops down the line. Denver natives, Cycles, are teaming up with Boston based, The Jauntee, to deliver fans a powerhouse co-bill tour sure to electrify any live music lover. Right in the thick of the strongest period of exponential growth experienced by either band this tour features stops at The Mousetrap in Indianapolis, Martyrs’ in Chicago, Cervantes in Denver, and many more fantastic venues and cities!

The Jauntee: Averaging over one hundred shows a year – The Jauntee has quickly made a name for themselves in the New England music scene. Hailing from Boston, they’ve solidified a dedicated following in the Northeast, playing most staple venues in the area (ie. Paradise Rock Club, Nectar’s, The Spot Underground, Stone Church). Several New England festival appearances (ie. StrangeCreek, Camp Coldbrook, Disc Jam) and extensive touring down the East Coast and across the Midwest have given them Nationwide recognition, with sold out shows as far west as Denver, CO (Quixote’s). A focus on live improvisation, set list variety, and musical exploration makes every show different from the last, truly making The Jauntee a live act to see again and again. Drawing influence from a wide variety of bands, The Jauntee’s improvisational landscape spans multiple genres, including: Funk/Rock/Jazz/Progressive/Bluegrass/Psychedelic and Ambient music. Their willingness to explore genres, abandon all song structure, and dive into ‘the weird’ sets them apart from your average upcoming Jam Band. They aim to push the boundaries of improvisation, embrace the moment and engage the audience. With an ever-expanding song catalog and an inclination for open ended improvisation, every show promises to be a unique experience.

Cycles: The Denver-based power trio, Cycles, comprised of Patrick Harvey (guitar), Michael Wood (drums), and Tucker McClung (bass/vocals) are on a musical mission to melt your mind. Self-described as “psychedelic rock fusion”, Cycles effortlessly blends rock, jazz, hip-hop, soul, and much more creating a versatile soundscape that makes each live show different than the last. Striving for variety in each set, Cycles carefully construct a show designed to thrill. Each member brings a special set of skills and influences to the table. Living in the same house together and practicing hours upon hours each day has created a profound chemistry between the band members that truly shines through in the live setting. Tucker McClung is a powerful commander of the bass who never shies away from applying the melodic nature of the instrument all the while leading the show with compelling vocals. Michael Wood, with his tight and jazzy drum beats, works tirelessly to keep the band on track through intricate tempo changes and wide-open space. Patrick Harvey’s dominating guitar shred is what completes the band’s sound and often drives them to take the jams into outer space.
