Atlanta's Space Kadet continues to turn heads across the electronic / jam scene, as their persistent instrumental exploration never fails to deliver a fresh, upbeat variety of sounds. Having shared the stage with the likes of  The Floozies, Russ Liquid Test, Zoogma, Sunsquabi, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, and The Werks, the eclectic three-piece has built notable momentum over the past year. This has led to an impressive run of festival appearances, including SweetWater 420 Festival, Imagine Festival, Purple Hatter's Ball, and Zen Awakening.

If you're looking for a fresh addition to your summer playlist, you're in luck. Today, Space Kadet has released their latest studio work, which comes as a remix of Mark Morrison's 1996 hit, "Return of the Mack," which can be streamed in full below. We recently caught up with drummer Rohan Prakash, who gave us the inside scoop on the band's new release:

"When Thomas Garret (guitarist) joined the band in July of last year, he would mention from time to time that we should write a remix to Mark Morrison's classic, "Return of the Mack." We never really thought much of it until earlier this year. I happened to find the acapellas for the track one night and remember spending that whole night toying with different sounds and writing different ideas on Ableton etc. I was mainly going for a housey/spacey sounding vibe, but I wanted to stay true to the originally intended R&B/funk feels of the track.

The original "Return Of The Mack" is a classic, and I was pretty nervous to drop this remix at first.  We played it live in Atlanta opening for The Floozies back in February, and it got an amazing crowd reaction. Since then, this has been one of our favorite remixes to play live. Over the past few months we have brushed it up, and we recently got to spend some time in the studio, where Bambi and Thomas would finalize their bass, synth and guitar parts. Our good friend Josh Bell helped mix and master the track for us. It's safe to say that we are quite pleased with the final product. We figured that this would make for a great summer time release."
