Displace Hosts Cinco de Displace Party at Dunedin Brewery May 10, 2016 13:13

Displace (Tampa, FL) teamed up with Fletcher’s Grove (Morgantown, WV) to host a Cinco de Displace party at Dunedin Brewery in Dunedin, FL on Thursday, May 5th. Playing to a packed crowd, Displace took advantage of the unique decorations of the venue to record a 360 degree “virtual reality” video of their new song “Friction”.

The band also recorded the set, and are releasing it for stream and download on their Bandcamp page. As always, the set can be downloaded for free via the “name your price” option on the website.

The band wasted no time ripping into a fourteen and a half minute version of “Generation: Sloan” (The first song off their first studio album, “Eureka”) and jumped quickly into a riveting version of “Float” (The first song off their second studio album, “Undertow, which will be released on June 21st digitally followed by an album release run starting the next day.). The band next maneuvered into a 25 minute mash up of The Zuton’s “Valerie” into the crowd favorite “Needles, before busting into, a fun, funky version of Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me”.

The second half of the set started with the newer song, “The Flight of Admiral Archibald, which segued into another new song “Friction”. The band then threw it back to their roots with a crazy version of “Hillsborogh River Rapids”. Joking with the crowd, they told the story of how someone in the parking lot begged them to play a Prince song. They then played The Rolling Stones “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.. The band finished the night off with a dance driven “Geonosis Shuffle” and a throwback to your teenage years with System of a Down’s “Toxicity”. Not wanting to leave the crowd disappointed, they came back on stage for an encore and played a powerful version of the ear-worm “Don’t Fret.
