As we look ahead to the upcoming weekend, excitement is most certainly abound as we prepare for an evening with Widespread Panic and Tedeschi Trucks Band at the BJCC Legacy Arena in Birmingham, AL. To say that Widespread Panic's roots run deep in Birmingham would be quite the understatement.  When you include the band's 24 performances at Oak Mountain Amphitheatre in Pelham (1990-2013), Panic has has performed a total of 45 shows in the Birmingham area, with Saturday night's show making for number 46 (via EverydayCompanion).

We can't help but look back on the the band's last performance in the BJCC Arena, one which was originally booked for Pelham's Oak Mountain Amphitheatre.  The Panic faithful was geared up for the band's first Oak Mountain run in 9 years,  but they would be forced to enjoy Friday night's show indoors.  This show was red hot from start to finish, with a "Pigeons" > "North" > "Hatfield" kicking things off.  "Hatfield" would segue into The Doors' "Riders On The Storm", a clear nod to their fans coping with the unfortunate weather.  The set would carry on with only one break in the music, with tunes such as "Bust It Big", "Walk On The Flood", "Saint Ex", and the always rowdy "Blackout Blues".
-
The moment when JoJo Hermann carried "Blackout Blues" into Traffic's "Feelin' Alright" is without a doubt one of the most memorable moments in our many years of seeing live music.  This would make for the first time Panic had performed the tune in over 10 years, and they have not touched it since.  The BJCC Arena was unforgettable party on that April night in 2011, and we cannot wait to see what this band has in store for us this weekend (perhaps with a little help from their friends).
