Bob Weir Releases First Single "Only A River" From New Solo Album August 18, 2016 11:34

Bob Weir recently announced the release of Blue Mountain, his first solo album in 10 years, and the first composed of entirely new material in 30 years. The album, which is comprised of "cowboy songs," features the likes of Josh Ritter, Josh Kaufman, Joe Russo, Scott Devendorf, Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner.   Blue Mountain is available for pre-order on CD via Amazon and digitally on iTunes. The album will be released on September 30th via Weir's new label home, Columbia/Legacy.  Today, Weir has officially released the first single. "Only A River," via NPR.  See below to stream the tune today.

Recorded co-produced by Josh Kaufman in 2015, Blue Mountain features guitarists Aaron Dessner and Bryce Dessner, and bassist Scott Devendorf.  Singer-songwriter Josh Ritter collaborated with Weir on select tracks. Additional contributors on the album include  Ray Rizzo (drums, harmonium, harmonica, backup vocals), Joe Russo (drums), Jon Shaw (upright bass, piano), Rob Burger (keyboard, accordion, tuned percussion), Sam Cohen (electric guitar and pedal steel), Nate Martinez (guitars, harmonium, backup vocals), Jay Lane (drums, vocals), Robin Sylvester (upright bass, vocals, hammond organ) and Steve Kimock (lapsteel).

Weir will support the album with what is being called the Campfire Tour, which includes a total of seven shows. Tickets to each show sold out immediately, as expected. Each ticket order comes with one physical copy of Blue Mountain.
